Quality Focus

Customer satisfaction is the overriding objective and AGRIFresh goes the extra mile to ensuring the quality of its produce. To this end, we have completed Freshcare certification, which is currently the largest Australian on–farm assurance program for fresh produce. Freshcare certification provides Growers and Grower-Packers like AGRIFresh, an industry and customer recognized, independently audited food safety and quality program.

Taking Quality Assurance to the next higher level, AGRIFresh has achieved with HACCP certification at our Summergold orchard, since taking over operations in 2012. Next, the larger Citrus orchard is targeted to complete certification in 2013. HACCP is the internationally recognised standard in developing and maintaining a systematic preventative approach to food safety. HACCP, or Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point, addresses physical, chemical, and biological hazards as a means of prevention rather than finished product inspection.  This certification is important to the success of AGRIFresh’s goal to export high quality WA fresh fruit produce to international markets, as part of the Grow, Pack and Market strategy.

In addition, our QA regime includes:
  • Extensive wind shielding with planting rows of Casaurina and sorghums to protect the fledging fruit trees, with the added advantage of encouraging beneficial insects.
  • Installation of biosecurity measures to restrict unauthorised access to the AGRIFresh orchards, including foot baths to ensure no unwarranted introductions of pests or foreign substances that might damage the crop, at all times.
  • integrated pest management processes that involve the use of pheromones and baiting to control most pests.
